Technical Operators - Melbourne

Vision Australia Radio Melbourne is seeking volunteer Technical Operators.

Role

  • To provide technical support (audio recording, audio quality control and editing) for pre-recorded radio programs at the VAR studio’s in Kooyong.
  • You will be required to spend a few hours in a radio studio listening to volunteer readings and mark any errors as they arise. Errors may include: incorrect pronunciation of words, stopping and starting readings, long pauses, coughing noises, etc.

Skills / experience

  • An interest in audio recording with moderate computer skills.
  • Good comprehension of the English language.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong concentration and listening skills.
  • Ability to work unsupervised.
  • Audio recording experience and editing software skills (highly desirable). We use Adobe Audition.
  • Ability to sit for 2 hours in a studio.

Commitment

  • Regular shifts are required on a fortnight basis for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Vacancies are on a Tuesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon (1.45pm to 3.45pm).
  • We also require casual fill ins for last minute vacancies (weekdays only – primarily afternoon shifts)

Time      

 

Approx. 2 hours per fortnight (weekdays)
