Jenene Marshall is a Vision Australia volunteer who runs a ‘dine out’ group in her local area of Macleod.
Vision Australia ‘dine out’ groups are monthly meetings of blind and vision impaired people for group dinners. As a volunteer for these dinners Jenene collects Chris and Malcom, her regular dinner companions, at around six o’clock and they set off together to a nice local restaurant.
Jenene, Chris and Malcom have become good friends and familiar with one another’s lives over the past two years of regular dinners.
“I’ve made some lovely friends doing this” said Jenene of volunteering at Vision Australia. “The commitment is only three hours once a month and I enjoy the feeling of giving back” she says.
Vision Australia volunteers are a highly valued part of our organisation. The contribution of volunteer time, skills and energy is greatly appreciated. Volunteering is also a great way to make friends while you’re making a difference.
